Welcome
Most of us have heard the notion that there's an opportunity within every crisis. But when we are in the grip of heartbreak or overwhelming fear, that can seem like farfetched nonsense. This is where psychotherapy can make a life-changing difference and bring you benefits that you can't even imagine at the beginning.
Effective therapy is based on candor and authenticity on both sides. Working together, we clarify options and build psychological muscles. I challenge and support my clients to become more intelligent about themselves and more at ease in their lives. Together, we work hard, and share laughter, tears, surprise, pride and connection, resulting in real and lasting changes.
I work with adults and couples. The psychotherapy I do is based on a dynamic understanding of adult development. Adult maturity is a capacity for congruent and coherent experience of self, as well as intimate and authentic connection with another person. From this foundation, I customize the therapy to fit each person and the particular situations they are facing. If it's appropriate, I refer my clients for other supportive work, including nutrition, bodywork, EMDR, pharmacology, meditation, 12-step and therapy groups, mediation. Frequently my work with a couple can also include meetings with one or both people on an individual basis. Together, we figure out what works best as we go along.
Liberating the best in a person inevitably means exploring some of what they consider their worst — anger, loss, sadness, failure. I love the art and science of helping people sort themselves out and create lives they feel more at home in. If you are interested in discussing how psychotherapy might help, I would be glad to talk with you.
